Nvidia Rival Axelera Launches Europa Chip

On October 21, 2025, Axelera® AI announced in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the launch of its latest AI Processing Unit (AIPU) — Europa. The new chip is designed to set new performance and cost standards for multi-user generative AI and computer vision applications. Combining powerful processing capabilities, energy and thermal efficiency, compact packaging, and multiple form factor options, Europa is ideal for compute-intensive multimodal AI inference applications ranging from edge devices to enterprise servers.

The Europa AIPU delivers a peak performance of 214 TOPS with a power consumption of only 45 watts, making it suitable for high-performance computing needs. It features 64GB of memory and 128MB of on-chip L2 SRAM, providing 25GB/s (200 Gbps) of bandwidth to ensure high throughput and low latency. This efficient design offers 3 to 5 times better performance efficiency compared to similar products, making it the best choice for generative AI solutions. Axelera CEO Fabrizio del Maffeo stated, “Organizations should not have to choose between the compute power they need and what’s actually available. Europa makes enterprise-grade AI processing capabilities accessible to nearly everyone.”

Axelera will also offer the Europa AIPU in PCIe card form, supporting multiple form factor configurations to meet various workload requirements. The Europa AIPU and PCIe cards are expected to begin shipping in the first half of 2026.
