To meet this demand, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has introduced the MOTIX™ Bridge BTM90xx series, a full-bridge/H-bridge integrated circuit (IC) family specifically designed for brushed DC motor applications. The new BTM90xx full-bridge IC series expands Infineon’s product portfolio and complements the MOTIX™ low-voltage motor control IC offerings, which range from driver ICs to highly integrated system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The BTM90xx series is optimized for a variety of automotive applications, including but not limited to doors, mirrors, seats, body systems, and zone control modules. Additionally, with accompanying safety documentation, the series is also suitable for safety-related applications.
The robust features of the BTM90xx series enable intelligent and compact motor control solutions. The series operates within a standard voltage range of 7 V to 18 V (extended to 4.5 V to 40 V) and provides multiple protection and diagnostic functions, such as over-temperature, under-voltage, over-current, cross-current, and short-circuit detection.
The BTM90xx series can measure the current on both high-side and low-side switches, making it suitable for automotive applications with current limits of at least 10 A (BTM901x) or 20 A (BTM902x). The maximum PWM frequency reaches 20 kHz. Models like BTM9011EP and BTM9021EP support SPI communication and include daisy-chain functionality to reduce pin count and overall system cost. The BTM9021 model also integrates a watchdog feature. Packaged in a compact TSDSO-14 (4.9 x 6.0 mm) form factor, the series minimizes PCB space requirements while its large exposed pad improves thermal performance.
To simplify the evaluation and design-in process for the MOTIX™ BTM90xx series, Infineon offers a comprehensive support package, including product technical documentation, simulation models, power dissipation calculation tools, evaluation boards, and Arduino example code.
Additionally, free access to MOTIX BTM90xx device driver software and the MOTIX™ Full-Bridge IC Configuration Wizard is available through the Infineon Developer Center (IDC).
