The Galaxy Z Fold6 hinge has around 60–70 parts, while the Galaxy Z Fold SE contains approximately 130–140 parts. The new hinge is supplied by South Korean manufacturer KH Vatec.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold SE uses the same ultra-thin glass (UTG) cover as the Fold6. There is speculation that Samsung might implement a new UTG with an etched glass design for the foldable area, while the unaffected parts could be thicker than before. This change could make UTG more durable.
Although Galaxy Z Fold SE does not utilize this technology, both Samsung and Apple are researching it for future foldable devices.
UTG supplier UTI, which owns a glass factory in Vietnam, has not yet received approval from Samsung and currently has no confirmed customers.
The UTG used in Galaxy Z Fold SE is slightly thinner than Fold6's, measuring 30μm. The glass substrate is provided by Schott and processed by Dowoo Insys, the same as with Fold6.
The Galaxy Z Fold SE also features a titanium back panel, differing from the traditional carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic used in Fold models to prevent interference with the S Pen. Since the Galaxy Z Fold SE does not support a stylus, Samsung opted for titanium.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold SE is equipped with a 200MP wide-angle camera provided by Samsung Electro-Mechanics. When folded, it has a thickness of 10.6mm compared to the Fold6’s 12.1mm.
