According to the Korea Times, Samsung, Hyundai Motor, SK, LG and other companies are stepping up their efforts to provide substantial donations, daily necessities and emergency medical supplies to help people fight the new crown virus.

It is reported that the rescue work mainly targeted the southeast city of Daegu and neighboring Gyeongsangbuk-do. These two areas are the areas most affected by the new coronavirus. At 9 am on Thursday, 1,338 people were diagnosed with new coronavirus in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, compared with 1,595 coronavirus cases across the country.

Samsung Group donated a total of 30 billion won to provide medical supplies and other services. The group's subsidiaries, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung C & T, and Samsung Life Insurance, have decided to donate after a series of meetings between board members and the management committee on this topic This is a huge sum of money.

Hyundai Motor Group also donated 5 billion won to the Bridge of Hope Korea Disaster Relief Association. The donation will be used to purchase anti-infection kits and to support epidemic prevention activities for low-income families, medical staff and autistic people. Hyundai will also provide disinfection services and provide grocery, heat detection equipment, hand soap and masks to low-income families in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. The company will also provide customers with in-car disinfection services.

SK Group also announced a donation of 5 billion won to the Korean Community Chest to help victims in Daegu and its neighboring provinces hit by a corona virus. SK siltron, a silicon wafer manufacturing company of the SK Group in Gyeongsangbuk-do, will spend 400 million won to provide masks and hand sanitizers for local residents.

Similarly, the LG Group donated 5 billion won to the Korean Community Chest, asking relief organizations to use the money to help people living in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. In addition to this donation, LG Home Healthcare will contribute 1 billion won to provide hand sanitizers to people in the area.

South Korea's largest steel maker POSCO announced a donation of 5 billion won, provided by Lotte Group, GS Group, Doosan Group, and CJ Group 1 billion won.

Korean conglomerates have also been working to provide emergency assistance to subcontractors, which could be hit hard by a corona virus outbreak.

The Samsung Group has raised 1 trillion won in funding to provide emergency support to its subcontractors. The affiliate of the organization will also pay an early payment of 1.6 trillion won for purchasing materials this month to help partners deal with any economic pressure caused by the outbreak. LG Group provides consulting projects and zero interest rate loans to its subcontractors.
