Samsung Display or will lead the TV business, investing in the development of quantum dot OLED

According to Businesskorea, Samsung Display will invest $8.36 billion to develop quantum dot OLED technology (QD-OLED). Therefore, Samsung Electronics' visual display department (VD), which is responsible for the TV business, may lose its leadership.

According to the report, Samsung Display will announce a US$8.36 billion investment plan on October 10, and plans to build a QD-OLED display production line at its Tangjeong plant.

Samsung Display has suspended some LCD panel production lines - 8th generation line, and plans to sell this part of the production line. I believe that the industry's insiders will stop all LCD production lines in the future and gradually reduce the production of LCD screens for TVs. As a result, Samsung's display may have a greater say in the TV display business than Samsung's visual display department.

The head of a Samsung monitor said that Samsung's visual display department is responsible for the production of QLED TVs, while Samsung's display will be responsible for the production of QD-OLED TVs. In the future, the visual display department will only produce MicroLED TVs, so the power of the department will be reduced.

The visual display department said that regardless of Samsung's investment in OLED, their departments will focus on the MicroLED business. However, due to the unit price of 334,390-417,990 US dollars, the current sales of MicroLED TV is low. It takes a long time to promote MicroLED products to ordinary consumers.
