According to reports that mainland agents raise prices to solicit MLCCs from Murata, Yageo says it will continue to pay attention to market conditions

Supply chain sources revealed to the Taiwan Media Central News Agency that the supply and demand of passive components is tight, coupled with the extended delivery period of major Japanese manufacturers, some mainland agents have increased their prices on their own, and solicited multilayer ceramic capacitors from the passive component manufacturer Murata ( MLCC) products to strive for priority and increase inventory levels in response to customer needs.

The person pointed out that Murata's MLCC product delivery time is extended mainly because of the supply of highly customized MLCC products, which are used in automotive and industrial fields. The current average delivery time exceeds 112 days, and the longest delivery time is 180 days. Products with high specifications and high capacity have the longest lead time.

As for whether this news will drive the selling price and order status of Taiwanese Yageo MLCC products, Yageo responded that it would not comment on the status of orders received by peers or other companies, and pay close attention to market conditions to make appropriate responses. The company also does not comment on prices, which are determined by market supply and demand.

Taiwan media pointed out that the utilization rate of Yageo MLCC and chip resistors continues to increase, and the goal is to achieve 90% utilization rate of MLCC and 80% chip resistor utilization rate by the end of the first quarter of this year. Tantalum capacitor production capacity continues to be fully loaded. The factory will arrange manpower to work overtime during the Spring Festival.

In an interview with foreign media a few days ago, Murata Manufacturing President Nakajima Nakajima said that global smartphone manufacturers such as Apple are in high demand, and the supply and demand of MLCC products are tight. This situation is expected to continue until the Spring Festival in February, especially Demand for small, high-capacity MLCCs for 5G smartphones is strong, and the current factory utilization rate is close to 100%.
