AMD will surpass Apple in its production volume in the second quarter of next year and become TSMC’s largest customer

According to the Economic Daily report, Intel’s advanced process mass production is blocked, AMD stepped on the accelerator to overtake the market, and pre-packaged TSMC’s 7nm and 5nm production capacity for next year. The volume of production has doubled and the utilization rate of TSMC’s capacity below 7nm has been fully loaded. Next year, AMD will officially surpass Apple in its production volume in the second quarter of next year and become TSMC's largest customer.

The supply chain revealed that AMD’s Ryzen series processors, Radeon graphics chips, and server processors EPYC and other major products have sold better than expected. In the near future, Intel will take advantage of Intel’s advanced manufacturing process to make an all-out attack and propose to TSMC to subscribe to 7nm and 5nm next year. The production capacity is about 200,000 pieces in total.

It is understood that AMD has switched to TSMC with all its strength and transferred its foundry orders from GF to TSMC, allowing TSMC to take a big shot.

AMD's investment in TSMC has increased significantly in the past year. In the beginning of 2019, the monthly production volume was only about 2,000 to 3,000, which is not even the top five customers. The average monthly production this year has increased to 7,500 to 8,000. , The multiple will grow to above 16,000 next year. It is estimated that the number of films cast in the second quarter of next year will surpass Apple, becoming TSMC’s largest customer for the first time, accounting for more than 20% of revenue.

Although from a full-year perspective, TSMC’s customer with the highest revenue share next year will still be Apple, but with the continuous advancement of advanced manufacturing processes, AMD’s 2022 product line will fully introduce the 5nm process, which will further account for TSMC’s single-quarter revenue. The promotion has become the largest source of TSMC’s revenue contribution.
